Friendswood High students gather toys for kids with cancer
Shannon Ellis and Harley Kelly of Friendswood High School are currently collecting toys and teen-selected items for patients at the Texas Children’s Cancer Clinic.
Items collected in a toy/present box will be given to children after each chemo treatment, shot, infusion or radiation at the clinic.
Inexpensive toys, teen items such as iTunes cards and nail polish and other items will be collected through Friday, Dec. 9, and then delivered to the clinic.
In Friendswood ISD, FHS, the Administration Building, the Annex (the former junior high) and Transportation are collecting the items for the box. No balloons, bubbles or hair bows are accepted for the boxes.
And on Saturday, Dec. 3, items will be collected from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Sno Beach, 600 S. Friendswood Drive. Toys and cash donations will be accepted.
The toy drive is part of the B.I.G. Love Cancer Care project, started by parents after their 5-year-old daughter died of cancer five years ago.
