League City makes list of top 100 smartest U.S. cities
“The Business Journals On Numbers” recently ranked League City as one of the smartest areas in the United States.
League City is in the top 10 smartest cities in Texas, and 99 among the smartest cities in the U.S. with population between 50,000 and 99,000.
Scores were based on the percentage of adults at each level of a five-rung education ladder, which included those who dropped out before high school graduation; those who stopped at a high school diploma; those who stopped at an associate degree or attended college but stopped without any degree; those who stopped at a bachelor's degree; and those who earned a graduate degree and/or professional degree.
The point value of a specific rung was determined by the relative earning power of people at that level, based on the 2009 data from the U.S. Census Bureau's five-year American Community Survey.
“This survey shows what many of us already know here in League City, that our residents are intelligent and forward-thinking individuals,” said Rich Oller, city manager of the City of League City, in a press release. “They are a great resource to the work force both in League City and in surrounding communities.”
Among the smartest Texas cities, League City ranks eighth with College Station, The Woodlands, Frisco, Flower Mound, Sugar Land, Allen and Pearland leading the list.
