Seabrook company blamed for acid burns
A laborer is suing after, he says, he sustained injuries when encountering unsafe working conditions during a project in Seabrook.
Jesse Hunt filed a lawsuit on Nov. 18 in Harris County District Court against American Acrylic, LP, citing negligence, gross negligence and negligence per se.
Hunt says he sustained serious injuries when his employer, United/Anco, assigned him to work on the rebuild of the Seabrook-area American Acrylic Plant after its Dec. 9, 2009 unit explosion.
While setting a transformer on Feb. 24, 2010, he came into contact with acid, but there were no showers nearby to rinse off the chemical, according to the brief. He sustained injuries on the job again on March 31, 2010, when he and several of his co-workers were sprayed with diluted acid.
Hunt is seeking actual and exemplary damages, as well as court costs. He is being represented in the case by Houston attorney Muhammad Aziz.
