Annual Holiday Parade to be held in downtown Houston on Thanksgiving
This year’s Holiday Parade will begin on Thursday, Nov. 24 at 9 a.m. near Minute Maid Park.
The parade is being presented by H-E-B and will showcase floats, balloons, performances by celebrities, marching bands, cheerleaders and more, according to a press release.
Highlights this year include a Viareggio-style papier-mache floats designed by Studio 3, including a Tom Turkey float. There will be a musical performance by Booboo Stewart, who plays Seth Clearwater in the “Twilight” movies, according to the release. Stewart will perform a duet with his sister, Fivel.
There will also be a “Classic Moments” float showcasing traditional storybook classics, along with a performance by the Houston Children’s Chorus. The cast of Theatre Under the Stars’ “White Christmas” will have a float as well.
The parade will culminate with a float featuring Santa Claus and his reindeer, and a musical performance by Deborah Duncan.
Nearly 400,000 spectators are expected to line nearly 20 city blocks in downtown Houston, to watch the parade, as they have since the first parade in 1949, according to the release.
