Houston-area natives to serve as LIVESTRONG interns

Miles Anderson, Shelby Bowman, Kelsey Carlisle and Kathryn Ward of Houston have been selected to work as interns for LIVESTRONG for the fall 2011 semester.

Anderson graduated from Westfield High School in 2007 and expects to graduate from Texas State University in May 2012 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in communication design, according to a press release. Last year, Anderson was named the 2011 Designer of the Year by Texas State. At LIVESTRONG, he is assisting the marketing department.

Bowman is a 2009 graduate of Clear Brook High School. She expects to graduate from Southwestern University in May 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts in business and communication. At LIVESTRONG, she helps the development department by documenting and organizing correspondence between LIVESTRONG executives and major donors, according to the release.

Carlisle is a 2009 graduate of Clear Creek High School who expects to graduate from The University of Texas at Austin in May 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in public relations and a certificate in business foundations. At LIVESTRONG, she assists communications and external affairs with tracking media, creating press lists, writing press releases and pitching stories to the media, according to the release.

Ward graduated from Westside High School in 2004 and The University of Texas at Austin in December 2010 with bachelor’s degrees in government and history. She is pursuing her graduate degree in public administration at Texas State University. At LIVESTRONG, she assists the government relations team by corresponding with elected officials and members of the cancer community, tracking national bills of interest through the legislative process and aiding in the organization of cancer policy meetings and LIVESTRONG advocacy events, according to the release.

Applications for spring and summer 2012 internships are being accepted. The deadline for the spring semester is Dec 9; the summer deadline is May 11.
