Houston Police Department intiative take steps to combat home burglaries
Beginning Tuesday, police officers will be peddling, galloping and hoofing it through three Clear Lake neighborhoods aiming to combat a rise in home burglaries and raise residents’ awareness.
At 8:30 a.m., members of the Houston Police Department’s mounted patrol and bike patrol, Clear Lake Patrol Division and Harris County Precinct 8 constables will kick off the Boots, Bike’s and Hooves Initiative, which is intended to increase prominence and discourage thieves hitting area homes.
“The three-day initiative is designed to visibly increase HPD’s presence in three different neighborhoods that have recorded an increase in the number of home burglaries,” police said in the news release. “The goals are to encourage citizens to report crimes and educate the community on how to keep their homes from being targeted by thieves.”
