What's on my holiday calendar for next week
I know we haven't even carved the turkey yet, but if you are anywhere near as neurotic as me, then you are already thinking of special Christmasy things to do with kids this season.
When I was younger, I remember learning how to make gingerbread houses out of milk cartons and graham crackers at Clear Lake Presbyterian Church. My parents would take us there each year for an evening of crafts and Christmas carols. I was delighted to discover that they are still doing that today. Check it out on Dec. 4 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. If you go, let me know if they still have those gingerbread houses! www.clpc.com
On Dec. 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Galloway School will hold its annual Winter Carnival. The theme is Cowboy Christmas. There will be the usual carnival games as well as a mechanical bull and pictures with Cowboy Santa.
Also on Dec. 5, the Perry Family YMCA will host a Holiday Shopping Day from 1 to 7 p.m. The kids will be entertained while you use the time to shop.
League City will be transformed into a winter wonderland the first weekend in December as well. It looks like this year's theme is the Polar Express. Friday night will be a free showing of the movie Polar Express. Saturday morning at 9:30 children are asked to line up for the first annual Candy Cane Parade! From 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. the lighted night time parade will take over Main Street! This is always a crowd pleaser! All day Saturday and Sunday there will be events and perfomances in the park.
Well, that is all I am going to post for now. I decided halfway through this post, to limit it to the first week in December. I will try and post more as the season continues. Feel free to post any other events in the comments section and click here to see Ultimate Clear Lake's listing of holiday activities. Or you can check out Ultimate Clear Lake's calendar here.
