New contract keeps Webster trash pickup as is
Trash will continue to be collected twice a week in Webster under a new contract, but the city will keep exploring a pilot program that would reduce pickup to once weekly.
Last week, City Council approved a new agreement with Republic Services through Nov. 2012, City Manager Wayne Sabo said. It replaces a previous contract that was to expire Dec. 1.
The new agreement has no changes from the previous contract with Republic Services, Sabo said. Webster residents do not pay for trash service.
I'm good with it," Sabo said.
Republic Services had wanted to implement new environmental and fuel recovery fees for commercial and industrial customers. It had also sought a pilot program to reduce curbside pickup from twice a week to once a week for residential customers.
City staff is still studying that possibility, Sabo said. But for now, there's nothing for residents to worry about, he said.
That's just a pilot program," Sabo said. That really wasn't considered as part of the contract renewal."
