Disability Leadership Network to hold trainings in Sugar Land, Clear Lake
Registration for upcoming Disability Leadership Network training sessions will close on Aug. 31.
The upcoming Disability Leadership Network training sessions are designed to prepare people to advocate on behalf of people with disabilities. The sessions will cover topics such as disability advocacy and the values of the Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities. Participants will also be given the opportunity to develop and practice the skills they learn.
Training session will be on the following dates and times:
In Sugar Land training will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursdays, Sept. 15, Oct. 20, Nov. 18 and Dec. 8.
In Clear Lake training will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Fridays, Sept. 16, Oct. 21, Nov. 18 and Dec. 9.
Each session has unique topics that it will cover. Some of the topics are the history of the disability movement, the importance of belonging, self-determination and employment, and creating systemic change. Presentations during the sessions will be given by people with experience advocating for disabilities.
The sessions are free to adult with disabilities, $30 for family members and $100 for professionals and community members.
