Harvest Moon 'safety day' to kick off regatta events
Harvest Moon Safety Day will be held on Saturday, Sept. 10 in Lakewood Yacht Club’s ballroom.
Safety Day is a free, educational forum sponsored by a subcommittee of the Harvest Moon Regatta Committee, chaired this year by Jeff Southard. The forum is open to any sailor interested in offshore racing.
“We will cover a wide range of topics for offshore racing, all to be addressed by professionals,” said Southard. “Topics include boat preparation, offshore safety and medical emergencies, safety regulations, and Port Aransas entry and docking at the end of the race.”
Safety Day will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Lakewood Yacht Club is located at 2425 NASA Parkway.
The 25th annual Harvest Moon Regatta, a 150-mile race from Galveston across the Gulf of Mexico to Port Aransas, will be held from Thursday, Oct. 13 through Sunday, Oct. 16.
