Friendswood PD to hold tests for peace and public safety officers
The deadline to register for peace officer and public safety officer tests is 3 p.m. on Sept. 28.
Tests for peace officer and public safety officer positions with the Friendswood Police Department will be conducted at 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Oct. 19.
Peace officer positions are full time and earn a base salary of $43,243 to $54,059, depending on qualifications. Peace officers will be required to perform patrols, be involved in crisis preventions and perform preliminary criminal investigations. To be considered for the position, applicants must be enrolled in a TCLEOSE entry-level program or be a licensed Texas Peace Officer, possess U.S. citizenship, have a diploma or GED, be at least 21 years old, have a valid driver’s license, and have no class B or A misdemeanors or felonies.
New hires will begin as cadets and earn $36,000 a year while they complete academy. Once academy has been completed and a TCLEOSE license obtained, the cadet will become a peace officer and have their pay adjusted to the position.
The City of Friendswood is also looking for three part-time public safety officers. These officers receive an hourly rate of $14.06 to $17.58 an hour. The position involves assisting with administrative work and maintaining prisoners in the city jail. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, at least 18 years old, have a valid driver’s license, have a diploma or GED, and have no class B or A misdemeanors or felonies.
