Clear Lake country club employee sues over workplace accident

A Clear Lake country club employee is suing over claims he suffered serious injuries while performing heavy manual labor for hours in the hot sun.

Miguel Munoz filed a lawsuit on Aug. 11 in Harris County District Court against ClubCorp USA and Clear Lake’s Bay Oaks Country Club, citing negligence.

Munoz says that on Aug. 11, 2009, he suffered serious injuries when his employers, the defendants, told him to demolish an outside storage unit located at 14545 Bay Oaks Blvd. in Clear Lake. According to the brief, the defendants sent Munoz out into the hot 11 a.m. sun to demolish the building. After about four or five hours, he felt dizzy, lost consciousness and fell.

The suit alleges his injuries included a damaged ankle, which will require multiple surgeries to correct.

Munoz is seeking damages and court costs. He is being represented in the case by Houston attorney Michelle Blum.
