Nassau Bay woman takes tennis silver at Senior Games
Arlene Joyce Lewis won the silver medal at the NSGA tennis tournament.
Lewis has been playing tennis for 36 years. She began playing in local tournaments in 1976 and began competing in state-ranked tournaments in 1982. She retired in 2002, but when she turned 70 earlier this year, she decided to take up the game again and is currently ranked no. 1 in the state in W70S.
“It was such a great experience because, first of all, they set up 10 indoor courts at George Brown Convention Center so we wouldn’t have to play outdoors, and when each division was concluded, they took us over to where they had a staggered podium set up just like the real Olympics,” Lewis said.
