Disability Leadership Network to hold classes in Clear Lake, Sugar Land
Disability Leadership Network of Houston 2011 will be offered in Clear Lake and Sugar Land beginning in September.
Disability Leadership Network of Houston 2011, presented by Family to Family Network and the Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities, will offer trainings in Clear Lake and Sugar Land beginning in September.
This leadership and advocacy program teaches parents, adults with disabilities and community members how to become an advocate for people with disabilities. The training covers disability advocate fundamentals and allows participants to practice these leadership skills in class.
Sessions scheduled include: History of the Disability Movement, Disability is Natural, The Importance of Belonging, Inclusion Begins in Kindergarten, Self-Determination, Person-Centered Planning and Creating Systems of Change.
Disability Leadership Network of Houston 2011 in Sugar Land will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursdays, Sept. 15, Oct. 20, Nov. 17 and Dec. 8.
Clear Lake training is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Fridays, Sept. 16, Oct. 21, Nov. 18 and Dec. 9.
The cost of this program, which offers 12 CUE hours for social workers, is free for adults with disabilities, $30 for family members and $100 for professionals or community members.
