CHRISTUS St. John Hospital to offer childbirth, baby-care classes
CHRISTUS St. John Hospital will hold a series of childbirth and baby-care classes in August.
The six-week “Prepared Childbirth” class will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday evenings from Aug. 16 through Sept. 20. The class will include labor and breathing exercises, non-pharmacological pain management options, breastfeeding, postpartum depression and infant care. The class also includes a tour of the Center for New Life. The cost is $100.
The condensed “Prepared Childbirth” class will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m on Saturday, Aug. 20, and Sunday, Aug. 21. The Aug. 20 class will address pain medications, epidurals for labor, and labor and birthing options. The Aug. 21 class will focus on “Baby Blues vs. Postpartum Depression,” breastfeeding and infant care. The class also includes a tour of the Center for New Life. The cost is $100.
The “Happiest Baby on the Block” class will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27. The class will teach different ways to soothe and comfort a fussy infant. The class costs $45.
And, the “CPR & Safety Class” will be held from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27. The class will be in two parts, the first being an American Heart Association’s “Family & Friends CPR” lesson that focuses on infant, child and adult CPR and chocking. The second part focuses on infant safety and the American Heart Association’s “Family & Friends First Aid for Children.” The class is $45.

The classes will be held in Conference Room 2A of CHRISTUS St. John Hospital, located at 18300 St. John Drive in Nassau Bay.
