Fire department blames cigarette for Clear Lake-area fire

A discarded cigarette started a fire Sunday afternoon in a house in the 15000 block of Cranbourne Drive, according to the Houston Fire Department.

Firefighters were called to the scene at about 3:30 p.m., an HFD press release says. It took about seven minutes to put out the fire.

No injuries were reported, but the fire did cause $10,000 in damage, HFD says.
