Fill-the-Truck Food Drive: Volunteers are needed for a food drive at several Clear Lake Krogers. Bay Area Turning Point will pass on the food to victims of domestic violence.
Rocket science lecture: Franklin Chang-Diaz, astronaut and rocket scientist, will discuss how plasma-powered rockets might speed up space exploration. 7 to 9 p.m. at UH-Clear Lake.
Metamorphoses: Clear Lake High School presents a contemporary version of Ovid's epic poem. 7 p.m. at the school's Ninth Grade Center Theater.
SATURDAY, NOV. 21
Blizzard by the Bay: Visit with Santa and play in snow whipped up in Kemah's Lighthouse District. 1 to 4 p.m. at 5th and Kipp streets.
Bay Area Bluegrass: The season closes with a special free show featuring three bands: White Dove, Lone Star, and Buddy and Tina Wright. 7 p.m. at League City's Johnnie Arolfo Civic Center.
Clear Springs vs. Pasadena Memorial: High school football playoff game. 6 p.m. at Pearland's Rig.
Friendswood vs. Waltrip: High school football playoff game. 7 p.m. at Galena Park.
Friendswood's Christmas Home Tour: See homes all decked out for the holidays. 1 to 5 p.m. at Heritage Gardeners' Garden Center.
Fund-raiser for Dickinson High School's robotics team: Try your hand at driving the team's award-winning robot, Gatorzilla, and support these future engineers and scientists. Noon to 6 p.m. on the Kemah Boardwalk.
