Owner of vacant boat store pays $750 fine

The owner of a vacant building that used to be a boat store has pleaded no contest to violating Taylor Lake Village's nuisance ordinance.
Facing a fine of up to $2,065 for having high grass, Isaac Malekan of Long Island-based Lakeview Towers LLC ended up paying a fine of $750.
The often-vandalized building, just east of the corner of NASA Parkway and Kirby Boulevard, hasn't had a problem with high grass since a new management company was hired to take care of the building, said Mandy Saenz, the city's court administrator.
"There hasn't been another complaint so the prosecutor lowered the fine," Saenz said.
