UH-Clear Lake endowment established in honor of local educator

University of Houston-Clear Lake (UH-Clear Lake) recently held “Another Great Day in CCISD: May 24, 2011 – Celebrating Sandra Mossman.”

Family and friends of UH-Clear Lake alumni and former Clear Creek ISD Superintendent Sandra Mossman gathered for the celebration. Associate Vice President for University Advancement Dion McInnis welcomed guests to the event before introducing university President William A. Staples.

“Dr. Sandra Mossman has been a visionary leader who leads by example while serving as a role model for current and future K–12 administrators,” said Staples, who referenced Mossman’s daily “Great Day” greeting. “We are delighted to say ‘It’s a Great Day at UH-Clear Lake’ as we gather to honor Dr. Sandra Mossman.”

Staples also announced the creation of the Dr. Sandra Mossman Endowed Fellowship in Educational Leadership, an endowment in Mossman’s honor for students in the university’s only doctoral program. A plaque will be posted in the university’s Bayou Building, Atrium II, and include names of recipients of the award.

“I am very honored to have this endowment established in my name,” Mossman said. “I owe much to the university.”

For more information about the endowment or to find out how to contribute, call the university’s Office of University Advancement at 281-283-2021.
