Led by Brandon Swindler's individual fourth, the Friendswood Mustangs finished fifth in Class 4A at the UIL State Meet last week in Round Rock.
Swindler's time of 15 minutes, 38.81 seconds was bettered by only three runners and just over three seconds out of third.
Ryan Teel finished 12th and James Gregory was 46th for the Mustangs, who also had Levi Kessler, Raymond Lowery, Matt Craig and Austin Cline competing.
State champion Boerne Champion dominated the 4A boys field with five runners among the top 15, including first and second, and 30 points.
El Paso Jefferson was next at 120, while Frisco Liberty (136) and Lockhart (141) also finished in front of Friendswood (166).
