Benefit for baby bone marrow transplant set for Saturday
Seven-month-old Colt Fuhrman recently received a bone marrow transplant to treat a rare genetic disease known as HLH.
The Clear Lake Elks Lodge is hosting a benefit on June 11 to help fund 7-month-old Colt Fuhrman's bone marrow transplant.
The transplant is in response to a rare genetic immune disease called hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis, or HLH.
In May, Colt endured chemotherapy and steroid treatments, and received the bone marrow transplant on June 1. The treatment was not covered by insurance, and his family will use the funds raised from the benefit to cover the uninsured medical expenses.
Activities scheduled throughout the day include a bounce house for children, swimming, raffles and auctions, as well as $8 plates of Texas barbecue.
The event runs from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. at the Clear Lake Elks Lodge, located at 623 Hanson Road.
