Pilot lands plane on street in League City
A small, private plane made an emergency landing on a street in League City early this morning after the engine failed, officials said.
The pilot, identified as Clark Thompson, safely landed the aircraft on Signature Cove in a newly developed area on the northwest shore of Clear Lake about 7 a.m. Friday, according to the League City Police Department.
No injuries were reported. Thompson was alone in the plane.
Police said engine failure prompted the emergency landing.
The plane was slightly damaged when it touched down, officials said.
No homes or other buildings were in the area where Thompson made his impromptu landing.
The Department of Public Safety as well as the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the mishap.
