Youth community education summer program offered

The Friendswood ISD Community Education Summer Enrichment Program will run Mondays through Thursdays from June 6 through June 30 at Bales Intermediate School, 211 Stadium Lane.  

A variety of morning and afternoon camps are available for youngsters entering pre-kindergarten through ninth grade.

Camps include: Adventures in Game Design, Babysitting (Red Cross Certified), Books for Little Readers, Bugs, Bugs, Bugs! Camp Pink, Camp Rockstar, Cheer Camp, Cooking 1, 2, 3, Cooking & Chemistry, Creative Cupcakes, Creative Drama/Storytelling, Dance/Drill, Digital Storytelling, Dinos Rock!, Dissections!, Drama Camp, Edible Art, Film-making, Kids' Shakespeare, Let Freedom Ring, Make It FACTS, Make It MATH, Manners Matter, Mix It Up Science!, Music & Movement, Spectacular Science, Short Order Cooks I & II, Summer Kick Off and TESSELLATIONs.  Several online classes are also offered for older students.  

Extra sessions of the popular Lego Robotics Camps have been added this summer. These camps are taught in self-paced format in order for participants to progress as far as possible during camp.  

Numerous Art and Crafts Camps are also offered, including Adventures in Art, Animal Art, Artistic Stepping Stones, Easy Crochet, Fairy Doors, Felting, Fiber Coil Basket Crafts, Fun with Fabric, Jewelry for Beginners, Kids’ Glass Painting, Knitting, MIY (Make It Yourself) Paint & Paper, Paint with Plaster, Pot Hangers with Bling, TESSELLATIONs and Wire-Inspired!

Community Ed also offers several recreational-level Sports Camps during the month, including Basketball, Flag Football, Lacrosse and Volleyball.  Sessions of Tennis are offered during June, July and August.

Each camp is designed for a specific age or grade range of students.  This information may be found in the Summer Program list of classes and camps, which is posted online on the Community Education page located under Departments at the Friendswood ISD website, www.fisdk12.net.  One brochure lists all of the camps and classes, while the other focuses exclusively on junior high school students.

Print flyers can be picked up in the Community Education Office and FISD Administration, 302 Laurel Drive, the Friendswood Public Library, and FISD Elementary, Intermediate, and Junior High School campus offices.
