Drive for books and school supplies to benefit Alabama tornado victims
The Texas and Oklahoma locations of Half Price Books are hosting a books and school supplies drive over the holiday weekend, benefiting victims of the April 27 tornado in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
Tuscaloosa's Alberta Elementary and University Place Elementary will receive the donated items. The two schools were destroyed by the tornado.
Volunteers from the Literacy Coalition of Greater Dallas and the Tarrant County Literacy Coalition will sort the donations. Then the items will be delivered and distributed in partnership with Feed the Children and the Literacy council of West Alabama.
Those interested in donating new or gently used books or new school supplies can drop them off at Half Price Books. The Half Price Books nearest Clear Lake is located at 961 NASA Parkway in Houston.
