Seabrook draws 156 early votes
Seabrook's contested mayoral race and a proposition on enacting civil-service law in the city's police department drew an average early-voting turnout, says City Secretary Michele Glaser.
Glaser says 149 people voted early in person, and seven by mail. Seabrook has about 7,000 registered voters, according to Glaser.
In the last election in 2010, she points out, overall turnout "was a lot less ... I think we had only 89 [early votes] last election. We didn't have any officers up for election, we had charter amendments."
Glaser says that the fact that there's only one contested race and one proposition on the ballot this time "may be why we didn't get a higher turnout."
