Friendswood sees average early-voting turnout
Early-voting numbers in two Friendswood City Council races were about on target after early voting closed Tuesday, City Secretary Melinda Welsh says.
Welsh says that 1,324 people came to vote early in person, and only 12 people requested applications to vote early by mail. "It definitely is average for Friendswood," she says. "We had a little bit more last year, but it's pretty normal."
This year, Position 2 incumbent Jim Barr is facing a challenge from Billy Enochs, and Phillip Webb and John Scott are running to fill Position 5.
Welsh says she is pleased with the turnout. "Of course, we always want more, since we have [23,854] registered voters... but on average that's about what we usually get," she says.
