'Keels & Wheels' event to be held in Seabrook
The 16th annual Keels & Wheels Concours d'Elegance will be held on April 30 and May 1 at Lakewood Yacht Club in Seabrook.
The event traditionally attracts more than 15,000 visitors from around the globe. Approximately 300 classic cars and boats from across the United States will be on display, showcasing interesting vintage vehicles with some available for sale or on auction.
This year, Keels & Wheels will celebrate 100 years of Indianapolis racing and recognize Century Boats, specifically the 50th anniversary of the Century Sabre. The event will also feature previously raced Indy cars, such as the 1935 Miller-Ford, and pace cars. On display will be the 1922 Bentley Tourist Trophy sports car, the first Bentley to ever enter an Indy competition.
Proceeds from the raffle of a 2011 C-Class Mercedes, donated by Alex Rodriguez Mercedes-Benz in League City, will benefit Boys & Girls Harbor, an organization in La Porte that provides care for children and families in crisis.
Also available for viewing will be the Dream Car of musician, singer and actor Bobby Darin. Darin’s automobile is one of the most custom cars ever built, with an array of futuristic innovations. Darin, best-known for his rendition of "Mack the Knife," drove the car to special events, including the Academy Awards.
