Lighting of a different kind for Friendswood?

Friendswood is expected to receive an energy efficiency grant that would put the city in a different light.
Last month, the State Energy Conservation Office sent a letter to the city wanting to know if it was interested in a $75,000 grant, city spokesman Nick Haby said. The federal stimulus money would be spent to purchase energy-efficient lights for city facilities, he said.
The city has yet to formally apply for the grant, but City Council last week approved a resolution expressing the city's intent to accept it, Haby said. The funding is expected to be received sometime next year, he said
The feds have to agree with what we want to do with the money, but we don't see any problems with it," Haby said.
