Seabrook business is donation site for fire victims
Donations for victims of a fire at the Emerald Shores Apartments, at 3802 NASA Parkway in Seabrook, are being accepted at Coffee Oasis, 4650 NASA Parkway.
"We don't have full report on the extent of the damage yet, but we understand that some people were injured and a good many lost everything they had in their homes," Rusty Cates, owner of the Seabrook coffee house, said in an e-mail. "We will serve as a drop off point for your contributions, whether they be for funds to help re-build lives for the uninsured, clothing, or household goods."
According to an earlier report, one person was seriously burned in the a four-alarm fire, which broke out early Saturday, Feb. 26. At least six fire departments in the area responded to the blaze, which consumed three buildings at the complex. One of the structures collapsed. The person sustained burns to more than 60 percent of the body, including the hands and feet, and was rushed to the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, said Seabrook police Capt. Sean Wright, the report stated.
For more information on the relief effort, call Rusty Cates at 281-532-1439.
