Clear Lake student wins two Gold Key art awards
Clear Lake High School art student Catherine McCaully earned two Gold Key awards for her Scholastic Art and Writing entries.
McCaully’s art is now eligible for a national award in New York City. National winners are honored at Carnegie Hall in June.
McCaully recently attended a reception at the Harris County Department of Education, the regional sponsor of the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. The competition saw over 2,000 regional entries this year.
The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards identifies and documents the outstanding achievements of young artists and writers. Yearly, 75,000 students in grades 7-12 participate in regional programs. About 25,000 students advance to the national competition. At the national level, Gold Portfolio Award recipients take home $10,000 in scholarships.
