Two charged with stealing credit cards in League City
League City police have arrested two women accused of stealing a gym
customer's debit card and using it at least four local stores.
Deborah Ann Marves, 60, and Lokedria Ornelle Scott, 37, both face several
charges of credit or debit card abuse and one count each of burglary to a
motor vehicle.
Police say Marves and Scott worked together to burglarize vehicles parked
outside local gyms, including a 24 Hour Fitness in League City, while the
owners were working out, says League City Police Sgt. David D. Hausam.
On Jan. 18, Hausam says, the pair essentially worked their way down Gulf
Freeway, stopping at several stores to make purchases on the burglary
victim's debit card.
Hausam says people working out at gyms should avoid making themselves easy
marks for these crimes.
"If you see somebody walk out of their car with nothing on them, you know
they've left a wallet of purse in the car," he says.
Harris County Sheriff's online records show that both Marves and Scott are
being held without bond.
Hausam says the two are suspected in "a few different cases" similar to this
one across the area.
