Second suspect arrested in Friendswood burglaries
Friendswood police have arrested the alleged accomplice of a man already
apprehended on burglary and child-pornography charges.
Douglas Edward Ashley, 22, of Alvin, is charged with a felony count of
credit card abuse. Police say he helped Thomas Brantley Collins, arrested
earlier this week, burglarize several cars in Friendswood's Forest of Friendswood subdivision.
Police say surveillance video ties Ashley and Collins to a department store
where charges were made on a credit card taken in the burglaries.
Ashley was arrested just after noon Wednesday in the 1100 block of Cleveland
Street in Alvin, according to a Friendswood Police press release.
Police also arrested Ashley's girlfriend, Samantha Rae Doss, 21, of Porter,
who they say had an outstanding warrant on a theft charge in Humble and was
also found in possession of a controlled substance.
Officers searched the residence in Alvin and reported finding items
allegedly taken in the car burglaries, including several GPS units and
stereo equipment. They say two of the GPS units trace back to additional car
burglaries reported in League City.
Investigators now think Collins and Ashley have committed crimes across
Galveston, Harris, and Brazoria Counties. Ashley's criminal history
reportedly includes charges of vehicle theft, property theft, and criminal
mischief.
