Clear Lake buries its head in the sand with regard to hurricane risk
This is something that probably belongs in 'The Onion', only it's true.
Over the weekend I was incredibly disheartened to pick up a local suburban newspaper, the 'Bay Area Citizen', and find the following article.
Essentially: as part of a $56,000 federal and state project to raise awareness, storm surge markers were installed a few years ago along some Clear Lake watersheds to highlight the level of a 25-foot surge. Some people got unhappy. They've now been removed by the city of Houston.
