A new name for Friendswood concert series?

Friendswood's Concerts in the Park Series could be renamed tonight.
During its 7 p.m. meeting, City Council will consider naming the city's annual summer series after Mitch Wright, the city's former police chief for over 25 years, and his wife, Artha, who was the city's first city secretary.
It was the current mayor, David Smith, who submitted the application for the series to be named the Mitch and Artha Wright Summer Concerts. The couple helped found the Friendswood Fine Arts Council and played a key role in City Council's establishment of the concert series, he said.
The two of them were instrumental in setting up some of the foundations of our staffing and the city system," Smith said. But they were more than that. They always have been a big part of the community and part of the Friendswood family. They've contributed in their church, the schools and raising their kids here."
Smith said renaming the city's concerts in the park series after the Wright's is an ideal way to honor the couple. He noted that Mitch Wright is a musician who sings and plays the piano.
This gives us an opportunity to recognize them for all of their community contributions, but in a way that is close and important to them," Smith said.
