Friendswood Fire Marshal's Office to train volunteers in 'Skywarn' procedures
Friendswood's Fire Marshal's Office and Office of Emergency Management will be hosting a Skywarn class on Thursday, Jan. 20.
Skywarn is a program sponsored by the National Weather Service (NWS) that trains and shows volunteers what to watch for in the skies during severe weather. They can then relay reports back to the local Emergency Management Office and/or the National Weather Service.
Volunteers that have received this training will be able to provide information to the NWS to improve the warning program and prevent property damage in the community.
Those interested in attending should RSVP by Tuesday, Jan. 18 by e-mailing eoc@friendswood.com or calling the Fire Marshal's Office at 281-996-3335.
The class will be held from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Friendswood Public Library at 416 S. Friendswood Drive.
