Clear Brook's Vruggink commits to Houston
Clear Brook senior Ryan Vruggink has committed to play baseball next year for the University of Houston.
The 6-foot, 1-inch, 180-pound right-handed pitcher and infielder batted .394 last season and was an all-district first team selection.
Vruggink was a member of Team Texas during the multi-state Sunbelt Classic Baseball Series and is a member of the National Honor Society.
"Ryan plays for another Cougar great Gene Flores at Clear Brook High School," Houston baseball coach Todd Whitting said according to the university's website.
"He is a big, strong kid that has a feel for pitching. He has pitched on some big stages without fear and has the stuff to be a key contributor from the outset. Ryan can also swing the bat with some authority and that provides us an added bonus with his addition."
