Webster eyes new water lines for mid-2011
The City of Webster is planning ahead for some improvements to its water
lines in 2011, says Shannon Hicks, Director of Public Works.
Planners are currently designing an upgrade to the water lines in the Green
Acres subdivision, to replace 6-inch pipes with 8-inch, Hicks says. More
importantly, the city is planning a new feeder line that will run across FM
270 to serve the southeast side of the city.
"Whenever you're designing a water line, you really want to have a looped
system where there's no beginning and no end," so that if one section along
the loop goes out, other sections can still receive water service. Hicks
says. "On the southeast side of town right now, we don't have that, and this
will allow us to have that."
Hicks says the project will likely not go out for construct for another six
months.
