Friendswood's 250-member band earned the highest possible scores at the UIL regional competition earlier this month, earning it a place in the state finals for 4A schools, along with 1A and 2A schools. Clear Brook, Clear Creek and Clear Lake high schools also earned the highest possible scores at the UIL competition, but 5A schools don't compete at the state level until next year.
Earlier this month in a band contest that takes place every year in The Woodlands, Friendswood's Mighty Mustang Band also was named the Lone Star Preview Class 4A Champion and came in second place in the all-classes competition, beating out many 5A schools that competed, including Clear Brook High School, which finished in third place in the overall competition.
