Soccer camp in Friendswood to help kids kick cancer
The Kick Cancer Soccer Camp will start on Friday, Dec. 17, and run through Sunday, Dec. 19.
The camp will be offered at four locations: Houston Baptist University, 7502 Fondren Road; Dyess Park, 16822 Kitzman Road; Centennial Park, 2200 S. Friendswood Drive; and The Woodlands Facility’s Bear Branch Soccer Complex, 5200 Research Forest Drive.
The three-day camp will provide soccer instruction on techniques, specific topics and game playing from top area youth and college coaches. Those in attendance will also get chances to play with professional soccer players such as Geoff Cameron, Mike Chabala, Dario Sala and others.
Along with soccer, the camp will also promote awareness and raise funds to support the fight against childhood cancer. All proceeds will benefit the Nick’s Team charity, which supports research at Texas Children’s Cancer Center.
The Friday session will run from 6 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. The Saturday and Sunday sessions go from 4 p.m. to 6:15 p.m.
Participants must be ages 7 to 18, male or female, and a Special Soccer Tots program is available for ages 2 to 6. Registration costs $55 and can be done at www.cccfund.org. Those who are interested can donate $55 to send a child to one of the camps.
