Arts Alliance presents juried exhibit
Work by Joy Kelly is in the new Winter 2010 Juried Exhibition "Open Door Series" will open December 2 - January 6 at the Arts Alliance Center at Clear Lake with a new director Mary Evelynn Sorrel.
The work of emerging artists from the community are on display at the Arts Alliance Center at Clear Lake's Open Door Series: Winter 2010 Juried Exhibition.
The exhibition, which opened Dec. 2 at the center, 2000 NASA Parkway in Nassau Bay, continues through Thursday, Jan. 6.
Admission is free.
Now in its eight year, the center invited local artists to submit work in any medium of any subject. Work will be juried by professional artists from the Clear Lake area.
The juror for the exhibition is Jane Chin Davidson, professor of art at UH-Clear Lake.
"I like art that has a resonated meaning and I like a type of medium that artists are using today that cross over from different types of art making, whether it be painting, sculpture, inspiration or digital media," Davidson said. "I like when artists use a broad range of techniques."
Cash awards will be presented to recognize outstanding pieces of art.
"I'm interested in work that is compelling and encompasses a broad set of meanings that might be personal and might be attached to some broader, social or political ideas," Davidson said. "But mainly, I'm looking for work that's well composed and well executed in terms of technical creation and technical ability."
