Friendswood officials to re-consider extending Blackhawk Boulevard
The City of Friendswood is taking another look at its plans to extend
Blackhawk Boulevard.
The city's plan for its roads currently includes extending Blackhawk north
of FM 2351 to Beamer Road and south of FM 528 to Bay Area Boulevard. City
Engineer Morad Kabiri says that prospective developers of commercial and
industrial property have raised concerns about those plans. "They had
sufficient roadway access to where their property was, and they didn't want
to dedicate right-of-way for it," Kabiri says.
The city's Community and Economic Development Committee will discuss the
plans at its next meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 8. The Committee cannot
decisions on city projects, but can issue recommendations.
"I'm not saying the road extension is good or bad," Kabiri says. "It's just
that we haven't studied it thoroughly enough to say one way or another."
The Friendswood Community and Economic Development Committee will meet
Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2010, at 8:30 a.m., in the second floor conference room
of City Hall, 910 S. Friendswood Drive.
