Car's attempt to pass vehicle ends in fatality

One person died in an early morning accident Saturday in the 1500 block of Dixie Farm Road near the Gulf Freeway, according to the Houston Police Department. The fatal crash took place at around 2:30 a.m. when the driver of a Ford was traveling westbound on Dixie Farm and tried to pass a Nissan. The Ford struck the Nissan and the Ford’s driver lost control of the vehicle, flipping it and ejecting a passenger, HPD spokesman Kese Smith said. The Ford driver died at the scene and the passenger was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital in serious condition. The Nissan driver was not injured and managed to call police from a nearby convenience store before returning to the scene of the accident. No further information about the vehicles or the names of those involved, including the deceased, was available, Smith said. //<![CDATA[ MCP_PLUCK=0 //]]>
