Early voting increases at local library
More people than last year have voted in advance at a local early polling location, according to data released by Harris County.
In the 2006 election,
which was also a presidential midterm election with a Texas gubernatorial contest, Harris County recorded 12,025 early votes at the Freeman Branch Library at 16616 Diana Lane. This year 19,104 votes were counted there as of Oct. 29, which is an increase of about 59 percent.
Early voting is also up in the county as a whole. In 2006, 206,239 early votes were counted. This year the county has recorded 462,527
votes, which is an increase of about 124 percent.
