Two men charged in string of League City car burglaries

Two men the League City Police Department arrested on charges of attempting to steal a truck on Oct. 27 have also been charged with burglarizing four different vehicles in League City.

The suspects, Gilberto Gomez, 46, of Mission, and Benito Espinoza, 29, of Houston, face burglary charges in the following incidents:

At 12:30, a Ford F150 truck in a Target parking lot at 3100 S. Gulf Fwy. was reported burglarized. The items reported stolen include two laptop computers valued at $1,500 each. The truck belongs to Texas New Mexico Power Company.

At 12:31 on Oct. 27, two comforters with an estimated value of $100 each were reported stolen from a Ford F350 truck in the parking lot of Walmart, 1701 W FM 646, League City. The truck belongs to Susan Fisher, 48.

At 3:39 on Oct. 27, Jimmy Riojas, 39, reported that his truck was burglarized at 2520 S Gulf Fwy, League City. He reported that $25 in cash was stolen from the truck.

At 3:51 on Oct. 27, a Jeep Liberty was reported burglarized in a parking lot at 200 S Gulf Fwy. The owner, Marion Mahurin, 60, reported that the stolen items included two cable TV receivers valued at $200 each.

Espinoza Jr., is a delivery person for Ashley Furniture. Gomez is unemployed.
