Clear Creek crushes Alvin in district football
The Clear Creek Wildcats (6-2) defeated the Alvin Yellowjackets (1-7) 49-7 Thursday night at Veterans Stadium.
The Wildcats scored the first seven touchdowns of the game cruising to victory behind the inspired running of C.J. McElroy. He scored the first three on a 44-yard touchdown reception from quarterback Chris Collins, and two touchdown runs of 87-yards and three-yards.
McElroy finished with two rushing touchdowns and 98 rushing yards while averaging an astounding 32.7 yards per carry. He also had a touchdown reception and 44 yards receiving.
Wildcats quarterback Chris Collins threw two touchdown passes and compiled 189 passing yards while throwing no interceptions. Collins also threw a touchdown pass to Tevin Jones who finished with 113 receiving yards.
Running back Colby Davis complimented McElroy nicely and led the team with 105 rushing yards while also scoring twice on touchdown runs.
Alvin finally got on the board late in the fourth quarter with a Chris Shepard touchdown run. Corey Jackson led the Yellowjackets with 130 rushing yards while quarterback Josh Erwin struggled all night. Erwin could only muster 26 yards passing while also throwing an interception. The 26 yards passing included a 22-yard reception by Zack Guthrie.
Clear Creek finished with 475 total yards of offense while Alvin put-up 210 total yards of offense.
