La Porte artist, gallery owner to speak
Artist Liz Pearsall, owner of Windale Studios, 926 Hackberry St., La Porte, will be the guest speaker at the Kemah-Bay Area Garden Club's upcoming meeting.
The event is at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3, at the Jimmie Walker Community Center, 800 Harris Avenue, Kemah.
The program, "Flowers and Waterdrops," will include a painting demonstration by Pearsall.
Light refreshments will be served and the public is invited.

Gospel contest part of church fundraiser
Good Shepherd Church will host a fundraiser that includes a Best Gospel Singer Contest.
Contest entry fee is $50. The grand prize is $500.
The fundraiser is from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, at Bay Area Community Center's Clear Lake Park, 5002 NASA Parkway, Seabrook.
The event also will feature a barbecue smoked brisket and chicken dinner, holiday market, silent auction, bake sale and raffles.
