Channelview visits Port Arthur Memorial Friday night in district play
The Channelview Falcons (0-6) visit the Port Arthur Memorial Titans (5-1) Friday night. Channelview was shutout 21-0 by La Porte last week and have been outscored 193 to 89 by opponents this season.
Falcons quarterback Averion Hurts has passed for 690 yards this season and has six combined touchdowns while also throwing five interceptions. Channelview running back Justin Hicks has combined for over 500 yards offense and four touchdowns.
Marquise Johnson is Hurts top target and has one touchdown reception and 142 receiving yards.
Memorial suffered their first defeat of the year to North Shore 35-28 at home last week. Memorial’s prolific offense is averaging more than 42 points per game while their determined defense is only allowing opponents 16 points per game.
Quarterback Terrence Singleton has combined for 16 touchdowns and over 1,100 yards while also throwing three interceptions. Memorial running backs Nathan Holmes and Fisher Romar have combined for 11 rushing touchdowns and 722 rushing yards.
The Titans' Bryce Newcost has been used sparingly but has produced three touchdowns while only having 25 rushing attempts this season. Newcost is averaging more than seven yards per carry this season.
Darius White leads Memorial with five touchdown receptions and has 270 receiving yards.
K’Sean Wesley leads the Titans with 343 receiving yards and has one touchdown reception.
Kickoff is set for 7:00 pm at Memorial Stadium.
