Clear Brook hosts Brazoswood Thursday in district football
The Clear Brook Wolverines (3-3) host the Clute Brazoswood Buccaneers (3-3) Thursday night.
Clear Brook was crushed 46-13 last week by Clear Springs.
The Wolverines are led by quarterback Matt Heidt who has combined for nine touchdowns and 565 yards.
Clear Brook's Arthur Caudillo, Duran Gifford, and Dante Jones have combined for four touchdowns and 744 rushing yards. Caudill has only 31 rushing attempts but has an impressive 7.32 yards per carry average.
Defensively, Clear Brook's Drew Byrd is having a really nice season. Byrd has more than 50 tackles this year and is averaging nearly 10 tackles a game. He also has two interceptions and had a punt return that went for 52-yards. Punter Spencer Bowman is averaging nearly 40-yards a punt.
Brazoswood was also defeated last week, 41-21 by Clear Creek.
Boise State and Oklahoma State are among the collegiate powers who have offered running back Rickey Lunford a scholarship. Lunford has rushed for 12 touchdowns, 660 yards, and is averaging 6.88 yards per carry.
Brazoswood quarterback Drew Ritchie has combined for four touchdowns and 458 yards while throwing no interceptions this year.
The Buccaneers Marquelle Davis has six receptions for 78 yards and a score while also rushing for over 100 yards and a touchdown. Justin Dellinger leads the team with two receiving scores and also has an interception.
Kickoff is set for 7 pm at Veterans Stadium.
