[Update: The search for a prisoner who escaped from Galveston's prison hospital has shifted to the Dallas area.]
Authorities are on the lookout today for a convicted burglar who escaped overnight from the hospital prison at Galveston's University of Texas Medical Branch by crawling out through an air vent using blankets he tied together.
The Texas Department of Criminal Justice said Joshua Duane Barnes, 21, had been serving a 35-year sentence for seven burglaries and aggravated assault. He has a history of escape attempts.
