Red-light camera work delayed a day
The installation of red-light cameras in League City will now start tomorrow instead of today.
Redflex Traffic Systems was scheduled to begin putting in the devices today, but is instead meeting with city officials, city spokeswoman Kristi Wyatt said.
The installation will now start tomorrow at W. FM 518 and Interstate 45, where there will be cameras for traffic traveling east, south and west, she said.
Crews will then work eastward to install eastbound and westbound cameras at Texas 3 and FM 518 and then put in the devices at FM 518 and Marina Bay Drive for left turn lanes, Wyatt said. The city plans to release a schedule for the installations later today, she said.
The installation of all cameras is expected to be complete in two to three weeks. The city will then start its state-mandated 30-day warning period in which motorists will receive mailed warnings for red-light violations.
Violators are expected to start receiving a mailed a $75 civil citation that will not count against their driving record in October.
